Are you passionate about hockey and looking for a way to get involved in the community? We are seeking dedicated League Managers to help us run the 2024/25 hockey season. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the sport you love, support local teams, and gain valuable experience in league management. As a League Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our leagues by overseeing daily activities, supporting coaches and managers, and keeping everything running on schedule. Your efforts will directly impact the success of our teams and the overall experience for players and families.

Whether you’re an experienced manager or simply eager to lend a hand, your skills and enthusiasm are needed! This volunteer position is a one-year commitment reporting to the Managing Director. Training and support will be provided.

APPOINTED – One Year Term

REPORTS TO – Managing Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the operations of a league on a day-to-day basis. (A league is defined as a group of teams playing a common schedule).
  • Act as a communications and resource person for the coaches/managers of the teams in the league. Circulate information (bulletins, rule interpretations from the PCAHA and BC Hockey, etc.) to all teams in the league.
  • Ensure all teams are rostered prior to the first league or tiering round games. Monitor roster changes through the online game management system.
  • Through the online game management system, ensure all team contact information is updated, and the regular season schedule is issued to all teams.
  • Ensure all conflicting and rescheduled games are made up, and update the online game management system with any changes.
  • Ensure teams enter game results into the online game management system.
  • Monitor team standings in the online game management system.
  • Keep track of exhibition games through the assignment of exhibition game numbers. Ensure that teams enter game results into the online game management system.
  • Issue permission numbers for teams to attend tournaments, and forward a copy of the permission form to the team and the team’s Association President. Ensure that teams enter game results into the online game management system.
  • Monitor team and individual penalty minute records in the online game management system. Bring any disciplinary problems to the attention of the Managing Director.
  • Track player and team official suspensions through the online game management system, and ensure automatic suspensions are served.
  • Supervise playoffs at the direction of the Managing Director.
  • Act as the first level of the protest/complaint/appeal process; handle regular season game protests.
  • Provide the Managing Director (and “C” League board or Female Hockey Committee, if applicable) with regular reports and updates. Bring forward for settlement any areas of concern that may arise.
  • Prepare a final (year-end) report, including league standings and playoff results, for submission to the Managing Director (and “C” League board or Female Hockey Committee, if applicable) not later than April 1st.
