Responsibilities of PCAHA Team Managers
Team managers within the PCAHA have several critical responsibilities to ensure smooth operations and compliance with league regulations. Here are the key tasks they need to manage and the relevant PCAHA contacts to assist them:
Communication
Be Proactive! Communicate early if you need assistance, there was an issue with your game, etc. Always follow the Communication Model.
24 Hour Rule
Absolutely critical to follow this rule, DO NOT communicate when you are angry/upset, wait 24 hours. This rule applies to players, parents, Coaches, Team Managers, League Managers, Presidents, Officials, Division Coordinators, Managing Directors… Abusive communication will NOT be tolerated!
Rosters
Team rosters are created in the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) by your Minor Hockey Association’s Registrar. Spordle Play automatically updates every hour.
- Only players rostered within HCR, and showing up in Spordle Play, are eligible to participate in any game (except approved affiliates).
- Only team officials rostered in HCR can be added to the game in Spordle Play.
- January 10th, 2025 – last day for roster change involving a player. Team rosters are frozen as of February 10th, 2025.
- Contact your Association Registrar to fix any discrepancies – League Managers cannot update or change HCR/Spordle Play rosters!
- Check your roster in Spordle Play BEFORE EVERY GAME!
Exhibition Games
Exhibition games require a game number and must be obtained through your League Manager PRIOR to playing the game.
To obtain a number (permission), you must provide:
- Home / Away team designations
- Arena
- Date / Start Time / Finish Time
Please give the League Manager 72 hours notice. The away team must also obtain permission from their League Manager if different than the home team’s League Manager. Don’t forget the home team is responsible for scheduling a referee through their association’s RIC/Referee Assignor.
Getting Tournament Permission Numbers
Managers need to obtain permission numbers for tournaments by applying to the League Manager for authorization. This involves submitting all team and player details and complying with any additional requirements the league may have for tournament play.
Refer to the Attend a Tournament page for more details and forms needed
During/After the tournament:
Tournament Games WITHIN the BC Hockey district
- Game numbers will be provided by the tournament
- Games outside of PCAHA, but in (most regions of) BC Hockey will appear in Spordle through the tournament host
- NOTE: if the tournament is NOT recording in Spordle, notify the League Manager ASAP, so games can be created in Spordle
Tournament Games OUTSIDE the BC Hockey district
- “Game numbers” provided by the League Manager
- ALL games, regardless if home or away team, to be recorded in Spordle upon return
- Copies of ALL tournament game sheets (if used) to be submitted to the League Manager promptly upon return
Travel/Out-of-District Exhibition or Tournament Games
Refer to the Attend a Tournament page for more specific instructions and forms needed for travel

The Scorekeeper shall be provided with a copy of the Game Notes Scratchpad (which can be downloaded from https://help.hisports.app/). Female Game Notes Scratchpad is here.
In the event of a technical issue with Spordle Play or devices used for scorekeeping, the Game Notes Scratchpad will provide a backup record of the game. In such case, the Game Notes Scratchpad shall be retained and scanned/e-mailed to the League Manager.
Each team is responsible for completing the pre-game roster for their respective teams.
- Check off all players playing this game with Jersey Numbers, and “AP” if applicable
